Key responsibilities:
- Monitor, operate, and maintain critical data center infrastructure, including:
– Power systems: UPS, PDUs, generators, and backup power
– Cooling systems: CRAC units, chillers, and airflow management
– Fire suppression, alarms, and security systems
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on facility equipment to ensure reliability and compliance.
- Respond promptly to alarms or incidents, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and escalate when necessary.
- Maintain data center environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow) according to operational standards.
- Track, document, and report maintenance activities, incidents, and facility performance metrics.
- Assist with installation, relocation, and removal of IT equipment as needed while maintaining safe facility practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards.
- Support audit and inspection requirements by maintaining accurate facility documentation.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for facility repairs and upgrades.
- Ensure that facility incidents are swiftly remedied to always maintain the site in serviceable order.
- Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all relevant tasks undertaken to always ensure safe working practices.
- Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
- Write, review, and update operational procedures, such as MOPs, SOPs and EOPs. • Check and analyze BMS data.
- Ensure that site drawings and documentation are always up to date.
- Ensure that all plant rooms are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
- Ensure the provision of healthy and safe working conditions, if not report it without delay.
- Ensuring contractually agreed SLA’s and KPI’s are met.
- Manage and deliver repairs and minor project works, as required, within the data centre.
- To undertake lone working when and where required.
- To undertake on-call shifts when and where required.
- To arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all clients’ representatives.
- Always maintain the professional image of our customer.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with data center power and cooling systems
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems relevant to data centers
- Ability to monitor and operate BMS and/or DCIM systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of fire suppression, safety, and security protocols
- Physical ability to handle equipment and perform inspections in a data center environment
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including occassional shifts and on-call support.
Preferred Certifications:
– Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik; critical for working with electrical systems in Germany.
- TÜV Certification (Technischer Überwachungsverein)
– Safety and electrical compliance certifications.
- DGUV V3 (formerly BGV A3) Prüfung
– Electrical safety testing for devices and installations in Germany.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1–2 years in data center operations, facility management, and/or related technical environment.
