Ab Initio Technical Consultant

Ab Initio Technical Consultant Due to our Client’s significant growth, we are looking to recruit additional consultants to assist customers with the implementation of new and existing programs. The work is varied but usually involves some form of knowledge transfer/ mentoring to help a customer build the new applications and customize existing applications. All consultants work with customers onsite to install software, build example solutions, train customer staff (and their outside consultants, if any), and help customers build the first few applications. Candidates will typically have extensive IT experience. Many existing Ab Initio consultants had become highly technically competent during their careers and reached management or project management roles but discovered that this was less rewarding than deep technical work. This opportunity is often ideal for technically gifted who may feel frustrated or sidelined in their current career paths. In terms of expected profiles, our emphasis is on technical aptitude, self-motivation, inquisitiveness and overall experience rather than detailed knowledge in specific field. All new hires will be trained in the company‘s products and will acquire skill through mentoring. As English is our internal language of communication, all candidates are expected to speak and write English fluently. Consultants spend most of their time at customer sites and must be willing to travel 3 to 4 days per week. The following skills are useful as they avoid the need to teach these capabilities: ● UNIX knowledge, in particular, scripting. All consultants use UNIX regularly ● Knowledge of a major database, such as Oracle, SQL Server and Teradata ● Programming skills in one or more of the followig: C, C++, Java, SQL or other procedural or OO languages Other skills that are of relevance but are not required, include: ● JavaScript/TypeScript ● Data modelling (e.g. Data Vault) ● Mainframe experience (COBOL, DB2, IMS etc)
